This is a short summary of items from the July Council meeting held on Tuesday 15th.

Community Grant Approvals

  • Cunnamulla P—12 State School – waiver of hire fees for Cunnamulla Shire Hall on 18-20 November 2025 for Presentation Day and Year 12 Formal
  • Cunnamulla Emus Cricket Club – grant of $3,000 towards expenses for Brisbane trip being organized by Qld Cricket
  • Eulo Polocrosse Club – grant of $2,000 towards cost of ambulance at annual carnival and in kind support to provide water truck if available

Change of Meeting Date
The August Council meeting will now be held a day earlier on Monday 18th August 2025 due to the usual meeting date coinciding with the Western Qld Alliance of Councils forum in St George being held on 19th and 20th August 2025.

2025-2026 Works Program
Council received a status report on this year’s works program showing that work on projects valued at $6.4M have commenced.  Works are across a number of areas including road construction, master plan designs, airport fuel upgrade, solar installations, plant replacement items and projects in Wyandra and Eulo.                                                                                                                    

Pre-qualified Suppliers
The following register of pre-qualified suppliers for the supply and delivery of various products for the next two years has been approved by the council.

  • Tyres, Fittings & Repairs – Wayne’s Tyres & Automotive
  • Clothing – Higher Road Australia T/A Country Wear
  • Work Boots – Ashley sports N All
  • Water & Sewerage Fittings – N J Thompson Hardware
  • Swimming Pool Chemicals – Ashley Sports N All
  • Oils & Lubricants – Ocwen Energy Pty Ltd T/A Lowes Petroleum Service
  • Batteries – Wayne’s Tyres & Automotive

March/April Flood Event
Following this year’s flood disaster event, a full debrief of all Council operations was undertaken and a report on the learnings together with an Action Plan and template documents was received. The report will be referred to the Local Disaster Management Group for incorporation into the Local Disaster Management Plan. Council staff will also commence some of the Action Items that will result in improved preparation for any similar future event.

The following Council Plans and Policies were adopted:

  • Operational Plan 2025 - 2026
  • Fraud and Corruption Prevention Plan
  • Public Interest Disclosure Policy and Procedure
