Creative Change Project Released Today

PhD student and musician, Flora Wong has been researching the importance of music in the communities of Cunnamulla and Charleville as part of the Creative Change Project. An Australian Research Council Future Fellowship research project at Griffith University.

Ms Wong’s final case study report was presented in Cunnamulla today.

Titled, “How Community Music Creates Greater Social Equity in Remote Outback Towns by Promoting Stronger Connections to People, Community, Place, and Stories,” has been an in-depth study she has been working on for nearly four years.

Ms Wong found community music plays a crucial role in creating a greater sense of belonging, social connection, and social equity in Outback Queensland.

“This case study aimed to investigate the role that community music can play in creating greater social equity in remote outback communities with legacies of creative and cultural strengths alongside histories of socio-economic disadvantage,” Ms Wong said.
