Bea Todd pledges Australian Citizenship

The Paroo Shire’s newest citizen has been officially welcomed at an Australian citizenship ceremony Thursday 9th March 2023, in Cunnamulla. Bea, from Italy, has formally pledged her commitment to Australia in front of a crowd of more than 50 family and friends at the Welcome to Paroo event in Cunnamulla.

Mayor, Cr Suzette Beresford said citizenship ceremonies are one of her favourite events. “It’s a joyful occasion for families and friends, as well as for Bea, who has chosen Australia, more particularly Eulo, as the place she wants to call home,” Cr Beresford said. “Citizenship represents a commitment to Australia and its people, the values we share, and our common future and the ceremony is an opportunity for all Australian citizens to affirm this commitment.
“Our newest citizen, Bea has been a wonderful contributor to our community for many years. Congratulations to Bea in becoming an Australian citizen and making your commitment to Australia.”

Council holds a citizenship ceremony whenever requested by Home Affairs, as new conferees within the Local Government area await their ceremony. Attending a citizenship ceremony is the final step in the journey to become an Australian citizen and receive a certificate of Australian Citizenship. The ceremony fulfils the requirements under Australian citizenship law and provides an opportunity for Council to officially welcome Bea.
