Self Drive
Cunnamulla lies at the crossroads of two great Australian drives, the Adventure Way and the Matilda Way.
The Matilda Way stretches 1812km from the NSW border all the way to Karumba in the Gulf of Carpentaria. The Adventure Way is 2088km and is now fully sealed. It follows the wheel ruts of the old Cobb & Co route from Brisbane to Adelaide.
Coach/Bus
Murray's Australia travels from Brisbane to Cunnamulla on Fridays and Saturdays, and through to St George on Wednesdays. The bus returns to Brisbane on Mondays and Saturdays, and also leaves from St George on Thursdays.

Air Travel
Regional Express (REX) Airlines travels from Brisbane to Cunnamulla (via Toowoomba, St George, Cunnamulla and onto Thargomindah and return same day) on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Rail
Queensland Rail runs the 'Westlander' train from Brisbane to Charleville.
The Westlander departs Brisbane on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7.15pm, arriving in Charleville on Wednesday or Friday at 11.45am. A RailBus connection then departs Charleville Station at 11.55am, arriving in Cunnamulla at 2.25pm.
The Westlander returns to Brisbane from Charleville on Wednesdays and Fridays at 6.15pm, arriving in Brisbane on Thursday or Saturday at 11.25am. A RailBus connection departs Cunnamulla at 3.00pm, arriving at Charleville Station at 5.40pm.

Road Conditions
Most highways are now sealed, and, unless conditions are wet, many places of interest can be reached by conventional vehicles. Road conditions should be checked locally with the Visitor Information Centres or the local Police along the way.
Slow down if you see stock or wild animals near the roads as they have a habit of trying to cross in front of you. And remember to give trucks and road trains right of way, especially on narrow parts of the highway.
When meeting road trains or other heavy vehicles on unsealed or narrow sealed roads, slow down and move right over to the left of the road to give them right of way.

Precautions
Emergency supplies including food, water and first aid kit should be carried when travelling in remote areas.
Before travelling always advise a responsible person of your intended itinerary. If you break down, always stay with your vehicle until help arrives.
