Community Support Program

The Community Support Program responds to the identified and emergent needs for the local community with a priority on vulnerable individuals, families and populations. This program integrates with the broader community services system to actively promote community engagement and connectedness. This includes the balanced mix of quality programs, and activities that build skills, provide knowledge, promote personal and social development, promote physical well being and create and sustain local networks.

The Community Support Officer coordinates programs including but not limited to the below:

  • Australia Day
  • Paroo in Pink
  • Seniors Week
  • Community Education
  • QLD Week
  • Interagency Meetings
  • RADF

 

Youth Support Program

Council will provide support to young people who are not supported by protective factors (families, friends, communities, school and cultural connections) to enable them to lead safe, healthy and active lives.  This includes young people who are at risk of one or more of the following:

  • Disconnecting from family, community, prosocial or recreation activities or informal support networks:
  • Disengaging from school, training and/or employment;
  • Harm including self-hard and suicide;
  • Cultural disconnection;
  • Homelessness;
  • Entering or already involved in, the Youth Justice System, including those who are exiting detention or under youth justice supervision.

Service delivery is limited to Cunnamulla.

Council will provide a culturally responsive service embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into the design, delivery and evaluation of programs and services to ensure they meet the needs of the young people through respectful and inclusive engagement with the Traditional Owners and the local Indigenous community.

Operating hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm.
