Paroo Shire Council is proud to announce Guy Davenport has been appointed as the Community Recovery and Resilience Officer (CRRO).

In this fully funded role, Guy will focus on strengthening resilience, preparedness, recovery and community connection across the Paroo Shire.

“The role will involve working closely with Council teams, local organisations, emergency services, stakeholders and the broader community to support disaster preparedness, response and long-term recovery planning.

A large focus of the role will also be around strengthening community resilience through collaboration, connection and proactive planning across all areas of the Shire.

While the role has a strong disaster management and recovery focus, it is also heavily community-based, and I’ll continue working closely alongside many teams across Council as projects, events and community initiatives continue to grow,” Guy said.

Guy joined Council in late 2025 as Team Lead - Community Services and has already played a strong role in supporting community programs, events, partnerships and inter-agency collaboration across the region.

Before joining Paroo Shire Council, Guy held leadership roles within the community and emergency services sector through Life Saving Victoria, including serving as President of Dromana Bay Life Saving Club. His background includes emergency response coordination, volunteer leadership, community engagement, training and large-scale event operations - experience that strongly aligns with building resilient and connected communities.

“I’m genuinely excited for the opportunities this new role brings and look forward to continuing to work alongside all teams across Council to support our communities both now and into the future.

Please always feel free to reach out for a chat, share ideas, raise concerns or discuss opportunities where we can work collaboratively together.”

Guy is based at the Council office and can be contacted on (07) 4655 8428.
