Community Grant Applications
Cunnamulla Bowls Club Inc. – approved waiver of hire fee for portaloo and sponsorship of $3,000 towards the Cunnamulla Fella Bowls Carnival.
Economic Development Plan
Council adopted the Economic Development Plan 2026-2031 that will serve as a guiding framework to advance the Shire’s economy. The plan, developed in collaboration with local businesses and community stakeholders, includes an array of initiatives in the areas of tourism, diversification, infrastructure enhancement, new housing developments and business growth.
LGAQ Annual Conference Motion
Paroo Shire has endorsed a motion to be considered at the Annual LGAQ Conference in October. The motion calls on the Qld Government to permanently continue and substantially increase funding for the QFPI Feral Pig Coordination Program by committing to long-term multi-year funding. This would sustain the network of regional feral pig management coordinators, expand coverage and on-ground control resourcing as well as ensure support that matches the scale of the feral pig threat to Qld’s agriculture, environment and biosecurity.
Cunnamulla Library
The library has recently launched an After-School Homework Club held every Friday afternoon to provide students with a supportive environment to complete schoolwork, develop study habits and work towards their learning goals. Preparations are also nearing completion for the upcoming Beginner iPad Lessons. Details will be advertised once all resources, and program requirements have been finalised.
Child Safety Policies
As part of Council’s obligations under the Child Safe Organisations Act 2024 (Qld) a Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy together with a Reportable Conduct Scheme Policy have been adopted by the Council. Being a prescribed organisation under the Act, the Council is required to implement the Queensland Child Safe Standards, appoint a Child Safety Officer and participate in the Reportable Conduct Scheme administered by the Qld Family and Child Commission. The policies will be supported by a suite of operational documents including reporting forms, registers and investigation templates which are currently being developed.
