Disaster Management Disaster Management

The Paroo Shire Council Disaster Management Plan provides an outline for prevention, preparation, response and disaster recovery arrangements in our community and in partnership with other levels of government.

The focus is to minimise the effects of a disaster. The plan does the following:

  • has an all-hazards approach;
  • is comprehensive and documented;
  • focuses on strategic outcomes; and
  • is regularly reviewed and validated.

Council is required to have a Disaster Management Plan pursuant to the Disaster Management Act 2003. The Paroo Shire Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) is responsible for managing disaster operations, which primarily involves coordination of response operations and other agencies.
