Welcome to Paroo Shire
Explorer William Landsborough was one of the first to recognise the potential wealth and diversity of opportunity in the Paroo Shire when he passed through the area in 1862.
The rich plains and river flats found in the Shire were ideal for sheep and cattle grazing, these industries have since played a key role in the growth and the Shire in its exciting beginnings to its position as a rural centre today.
SURPRISE PARADE THROUGH CUNNAMULLA
Late yesterday afternoon there was an impromptu lively and colourful parade through the town of Cunnamulla by a large group of local girls.
Tammy Hickey very kindly donated many costumes which she had collected over the years to the combined youth groups of Paroo Shire Council and Eagle Edge Solutions. Youth Officer Linda Wharton accepted the offer with pleasure on behalf of both parties. The children with the aid of Eagle Edge Coordinator of afternoon youth programs Maryanne Johnson coordinated this parade to the delight of many members of the community.
Congratulations to the the girls and Maryanne for a wonderful performance on a very chilly day in Cunnamulla. Many thanks to Tammy for the terrific donation.
