Message from the Mayor
Welcome to the Paroo Shire, the home of the Cunnamulla Fella and gateway to the real outback! We are a big part of Queensland, 47 633 sq km to be exact, boasting many famous tourist delights as well as hidden treasures, investment opportunities and lifestyle attractions.
Rich in history, eco systems and ever changing landscapes, our Shire is a must for anyone wanting to experience genuine bush hospitality and gain an insight into the Australian outback.
Plan your trip around some of the fabulous attractions we have to offer. From Opal fossicking, date wine and therapeutic mud baths to fishing, bird watching, camel tours and water sports, the Paroo Shire is a playground for all travellers. Of course you would not leave the Shire without taking the time to meet our infamous “Eulo Queen” and the legendary “Cunnamulla Fella”.
Open Mitchell grass flood plains, river systems, opal fields and Mulga lands, the Paroo Shire provides striking natural contrasts, spectacular sunsets and photo opportunities galore. The four townships of our Shire, Cunnamulla, Eulo, Yowah and Wyandra, will ensure you get a real taste of outback life.
When you arrive in Cunnamulla, make the Cunnamulla Fella Centre & Visitor Information Centre your first stop to get the inside story on the best things to do, places to see and people to meet.
So stop thinking about it…dust off your boots, get your hat and just do it! Make your way to the Paroo Shire and come and see how we live, work and play in South West Queensland!
